Trying to pick a camcorder for making dreamsceans, wallpapers and other skins

May 1, 2009 4:49 PM by Discussion: DreamScenes

Hello everybody.

I feel like a little bit of a bad boy because I did a search in the forums on this subject... but it was a lame one lol... at any rate, I was wondering what camcorders do you guys use to create dreamscenes?

I personally was thinking of getting the new Flip UltraHD (for around 200 bucks) to create flying scenes from the airplane, train scenes, city scenes, nature scenes and so forth. Now the Flip records at 720 DPI for the widescreen size of 1280 x 720 (as oppossed to 1024) at 30fps. Its not great, but its pretty good if you don't want to spend 600 for a Hd recorder.

But i am curious as to what others use to cre3ate their dreamscenes. 3D Studio? Camcorders? An animation program? If you use a camcorder for your dreamscenes, what type do you use or would suggest?

I didn't see a way to turn it off... even end the process with process explorer or task manager. How do you turn it off without uninstalling it?

Also, does anybody else get the problem of using virtual desktops and changing to a new desktop, but the same wall appears? This only happens when I am running Fences.

Thank for the help

XP Dell Mini 9, 1GB Ram 16GB flash drive.

Do you customize your mini laptop?

Feb 5, 2009 12:02 AM by Discussion: General Discussion

Hello everyone.

I was just wondering if any of you guys bought one of those netbooks. I have a Dell Mini 9 (and I love it). I stayed away from customization and other apps due to fear it would take up system resources and battery power... but I couldn't stay away from a customized desktop!!!! Besides, with a screen that small, you need to make the most out of it.

My Dell Mini has 1gb of ram and 16gb harddrive (actually an internal flash drive) with sd ports and junk... so I don't really have to worry about space too much or vurtual memory due to being able to get an sd card with 32gb (probably get the 16gb one cause i don't want too much stuff on this laptop)

ANYway, the point of this rabling post is this: what do you customize you netbok with?

Right now I am using Virtual Desktop, Windowblinds (so I can get the small title bar and such) and Keepsafe to save backups to the sdcard and the portable hard drive I have (320gb). I am thinking about givng Right Click a try and trying this new program Stardock is making called Fences.

I am hoping to write a article on WinCusto about customizing netbooks, so any feedback would be cool.

Icon X Won't Work... BOOOO

Dec 23, 2008 8:42 AM by Discussion: Stardock Support

Hey, did a forum search but couldn't find this info.

Icon X won't install (boo) and Icon Packager associations don't stick for whatever reason. Also Windows FX doesn't want to run either.

Anybody know when 64 bit will get some computer love?

I came across this site and thought maybe someone would find it useful here.

I installed McAfee (gasp) about 3 weeks ago. No problems except the apparently normal memory hog usage and accational CPU blip (a blip I can expect to happen once or twice a week lasting as long as 2 hours at 80-100CPU cycles) and it has this Internet Exporer helper object called Site Advisor.

So I come to WinCustomize on IE (of which is very rare) and I come across this yellow alert: In our test, some downloads on this site tried to change some of our system settings.

Now I sort of feel like this: Its a skinning and customization site... of COURSE it changes default settings in some areas.

I wonder if I should take this as a way of warning the 'normal' computer user that downloading stuff from this site can change stuff (just in case they didn't know or wasn't aware of what kind of site this is) or should I take this as some sort of bad warning that doesn't really mean anything when it comes to this site?

Just thought I ask. I always loved Object Bar. Although I never released the themes I made for the first one, I hope to convert them to Object Bar 2 and add features.

Anybody else have plans for OB2

It an old article (actually 2 old articles) but it just shows how the computer is becoming more apart of the internet than ever before.

I know in the future even small businesses will have applications that use the web as a integral part of heir business philosophy.

Here is a link from a site called NetVibes of which plans to use aother site called Box (using the same account) in such a way that you will be able to add a drive on your computer (1 GB) that will be accessable on the internet.

Neat huh?

Hey.

I think I shouldn't be seeing ads, but I am. I go to my account and it says I joined.... 01/01/1900

So while I am a WinCustomize Subscriber (at least I think I still am), I think the year 1900 clearly overides my 2 year subscription...

I can't go to the page now because wincustomize is still going through some trama, but on my profile page it says I am a current customer (wincustomize subscription is I am not mistaken because my OD subscription hasn't been renewed yet)

If I'm wrong then ok, but those crazy ads are starting to get to me... I don't want an xbox360 after kissing brad pitt with a mouse curser and right clicking.

I'm getting A+ but what is next after that?

In about 5-6 months I will have gotten around 500 hours of hands on work thanks to a non-profit organization in the Bronx NY for free.

Great right?

So basically I will be able to do Help Desk level one somewhere hopefully and get my foot in the door after trying for almost 3 years (also, since they are funded by many companies who need entry level techs, the hiring rate for the program hovers around 80%... although I am not sure what that means as far as how long they were looking for work).

So I am left wondering, if I want to get paid more than 30,000 a year, what certification should I get next? What experiences should I be looking for?
